About Me

Here you can find a little bit more information about me and my approach to therapeutic work.  My name is Irina and I'm the founder of Imperium Therapy Services.  You are probably wondering do I actually know what I'm doing (that's where people ask about education and experience) and why am I doing my job?  The first part of the question is pretty straight-forward and resume like.  The second part goes more in-depth and tells you more about me as Irina, a person,  who provides therapeutic services.

So, here we go.  I graduated with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from University of Maryland University College and my Master of Social Work (MSW) from University of Southern California (Go Trojans!) where my concentration was mental health and sub-concentration military social work.  I currently hold the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#SW 16285) license in a beautiful State of Florida.

I had trainings in different modalities including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Problem Solving Therapy (PST), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Seeking Safety, Jungian Dreamwork, Play therapy, and Domestic Violence treatment. Since 2014, I’ve been working with people looking for help to ease symptoms associated with anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, anger, low self-esteem, and more recently - insomnia. However, we can’t be good at everything! My rigorous training in the area of anxiety, insomnia, and domestic violence prepared me to deliver the best results specifically in those mental health domains.

And here comes the most important part - Why?  And the answer is simple, because I care.  I genuinely believe every human being is a good person and deserves to have a great life - life without panic attacks, feelings on edge, constant anxiety and worry; life where one is comfortable in social situations and calm or excited at public speaking events; life without chasing hundred goals that would lead to “perfect” lifestyle, but acceptance of happiness in the “here and now'“; life where one has a sound sleep and feels refreshed and full of energy in the morning and doesn’t need to take sleep medications every night that only lead to grogginess; life where one doesn’t need to employ control, psychological or physical violence to sustain their relationship, but finds control and peace within him/herself that lead to successful conflict resolution be it in intimate or other forms of relationships.

I care, because I've witnessed the devastating effects of anxiety, insomnia, and domestic violence on one's life.  However, I also observed amazing transformations that took place because of therapeutic work.  I reflected my vision of therapy and my attitude towards people in the logo and name of my company.  Imperium means Supreme or Absolute Power in Latin, which is my belief there is an Absolute Power within each of us.  This power, if applied, helps us to make changes and achieve everything we desire.  The Spiral in my logo is an ancient symbol representing growth, evolution, and life source.  It reminds us that life is an evolving journey and change is a normal process that needs to be accepted.  The Spiral twirls to the center, which is symbolic of therapeutic work -  we need to get to the center of the issue in order to initiate change.

If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.
